Abstract
This study aimed to examine the impact of e-learning on enhancing
institutional excellence in Palestinian private universities, as well as to identify the
most influential dimensions of e-learning in strengthening institutional
performance. The researcher adopted a descriptive–analytical approach. The study
population consisted of faculty members in private universities located in the
southern governorates of Palestine. Data were collected through an electronic
questionnaire, with a total of 323 lecturers and professors from various academic
ranks participating in the study.
The results revealed a strong, positive, and statistically significant
relationship between e-learning and institutional excellence, confirming that
improving the level of e-learning directly contributes to raising the level of
institutional excellence. The findings indicated that faculty competence was the
most influential dimension, followed by technical support and curriculum
requirements. In contrast, psychological readiness and material requirements
demonstrated a moderate to low impact. This suggests that the quality of faculty
performance and supporting technologies represent the primary drivers for
enhancing educational quality and achieving institutional excellence.
The results also confirmed that demographic differences—including age
group, academic rank, educational qualification, and years of experience—affect
the utilization of e-learning and the level of institutional excellence. However, no
significant differences were found with respect to gender or university name. This
highlights the importance of strategic planning and faculty capacity development
in alignment with demographic characteristics to achieve higher levels of
excellence. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that e-learning is not merely a
tool for instruction; rather, it extends to enhancing institutional performance,
improving educational outcomes, and achieving higher levels of excellence, in line
with the main objective of the study.
In light of these findings, the study recommends strengthening faculty
competencies through continuous training programs, developing infrastructure and
technical support to ensure an effective learning environment, and reviewing
curricula to align with the requirements of e-learning. It also recommends
designing professional development programs that take demographic differences
into account. Moreover, the study emphasizes the need to establish a clear vision
and strategy that links e-learning to institutional excellence objectives and
integrates it as a continuous tool for improving institutional performance across all
academic and administrative activities, thereby ensuring sustainable improvement
and long-term excellence.
