Abstract
The study aimed to verify the role of strategic vigilance in the
sustainability of Palestinian small projects operating in the Arab Republic of
Egypt. The study used the descriptive analytical approach. The study
community consisted of owners, managers, and workers in small projects,
numbering 256. A total of 256 questionnaires were distributed, and 208 were
retrieved, with a response rate of 81%, also the study used spss,v25 program.
The study achieved several results, the most important of which are as
follows:
The level of strategic vigilance in small projects was high, with a
relative weight of 85.7%. Commercial (marketing) vigilance ranked first in
terms of relative weight (89.5%), competitive vigilance came in second place
with a relative weight of 88.9%, environmental vigilance ranked third with
a relative weight of 88.4%, and technological vigilance came last with a
relative weight of 76.1%. The overall relative weight of sustainability for
small projects was 87.1%.
In addition, the results showed that there is a role for strategic
vigilance in terms of its dimensions (technological vigilance, competitive
vigilance, environmental vigilance, and commercial (marketing) vigilance)
in the sustainability of small projects. However, there were no statistically
significant differences in the average responses of respondents regarding the
practice of strategic vigilance attributed to the variables of gender,
educational level, or years of service. Differences were observed in the age
variable.
Furthermore, there were no statistically significant differences in the
average responses of respondents regarding the sustainability of small
projects attributed to the variables of gender, age, educational level, or years
of service.
In the light of the results achieved, the study recommends partnering
with technology providers or innovation institutions to obtain the latest
technologies at low costs and train employees to use new technologies to
ensure effective performance. As well as enhancing understanding between
different generations within small businesses to reduce age gaps.
